Working through the books

Posted in Rituals and Workings with tags on 12/17/2013 by Keona-Mlh

Ok so I am getting through a lot of books which I live because I can take notes and set them aside, and in a pile for path workings and whatnot.

A lot of these I need to write down and mark them so I can perform them on the days that they are the most compatible with.

I’m halfway through Abraxas and I must say I am liking what I am reading. Granted I can knock out some of the Angels that I just can not and will not work with and go about my business. It’s easy to substitute when Angelic being for another as long as the purpose is right. Too bad most Satanists don’t know how to work with Angels. They here Angels and think Christian. Well your wrong on that. Just like not every daemon is your friend. But I digress. I am loving the book and the spells and it is deep.

Can’t wait to finish it and start the workings on the next few months.

The 13 Gates of the Necronomicon A Workbook of Magic by Donald Tyson

It was a very interesting rad about the Lovecraft Mythos as I really never had a big interest in it as a thought i did. The gate workings was seen more intriguing and I knew that I had to work through them as they were using the Zodiac as gates with the 13th gate as a realization of ritual work and maintaining an understand of of rituals in general. It doesn’t have to used with the Old Ones, as you can actually leave them out as there is a way to do that when reading the book. The Necronomicon is the current of energy but you do not have to interact with any of the beings, which I thought was nice.  It is basically an ascension working, divinatory workings it is easily paired up with a book i read last night. I read this book two years ago but just didn’t feel I had what I needed to perform the workings, now i do and I will be scheduling it soon.

So this is what the first 12 Gates are basically giving you. When you start reading through the book, you come across the Gates and each one give you a little bit of information about the Mythos. The first gate talks about the Races, the second gate talks about the Personalities and so on. There is a picture of the gates ass well that you need to keep in mind. You then move on to the key as there is one for each gate. The first Gate is Sagittarius- The Horse Archer. It tells you of the sun Zodiac, the right pillar and its associations, the left pillar and its associations. With each key you open the gate to gain entry by focusing on a seal. The first gate is for divining information, dream retrieval, communication with the Old Races, or another individual.  You then have visualizations and words of power to say and then you are on your way.

The 13th Gate deals with rites and incantations. Its the Serpent Bearer gate that you will open to greater practical techniques of Magickal ceremonies. It uses the thirteenth zodiac which i just dismiss. No one is going to change their zodiac because some one found an extra and tried to stick it in. I like the 12 and I am sticking with the 12. It helps you to internalize all the workings you have been doing, and to help you understand further the reason ritual work is done. It too has a gate, key and seal. Its a mediation gate only.

I like the working as it is presented. I see that I actually don’t have to rewrite anything, I can omit and get the same results since i am for going the Old Ones. It has more than enough information to get you caught up on Lovecraft and his mythos if you have never heard of him, or got the chance to read any of them. I enjoyed it and if you like the mythos and are a heavy believer of them, than you will enjoy this working to walk among them. If not it is still a decent read to keep on your shelf.

The Witches Book of the Dead by Christian Day

Posted in Book Reviews with tags , , , , on 12/16/2013 by Keona-Mlh

There isn’t a part of this book that I don’t like. It was one of the best books I read in 2012. It was written to include a nice spectrum of working with the Dead, spirits. I especially loved his altar of the Dead.

Opening up the book you have some real good info on the Dead, practices, and witchcraft and then you come to your first exercise: Entering the Visionary State. Simple and easy to do connection with the Death current. It’s one that is perfect for you before you start your Necromantic workings, to help loosen you up a bit before you jump head first into the waters. If you want to modify it, you can very easily. Even the Making the Pact Ritual, I found useful and I normally bypass those. It serves as a purpose to remind you of a commitment you made to better yourself through your workings and your dedication to your craft.

The altar of the Dead chapter is very detailed in giving you: understanding of the purpose of the altar of the Dead, finding an altar, placement, blessings, personalization, offerings, daily devotionals and etc. Very lovely chapter if you ask me.

The ritual tools are listed, some old and some new. A well placed chapter on bindings and banishing and exorcisms is always needed when working with these energies, lest you have something nasty attached to you. The cleansing ritual are useful and you can, of course, replace the Saint Michael with Hecate, Satan or any other deity you chose. There’s a good method on spirit communication and mediumship. With all the ritual exercises, Necromantic works in different cultures, and workings on a daily basis with the spirits, this book has so much to offer.

The book ends with Dreams of the Dead, ghost haunting how to’s, the 9 day fear of the Dead, other cultures festivities of the Dead, Samhain, the ritual dumb supper and a nice “after thought”. A book for every practicioner to have in their library.

The Temple of Hekate by Tara Sanchez

Posted in Book Reviews with tags , , , , on 12/16/2013 by Keona-Mlh

This book deals with as Hekate in her Greek Aspect. I personally see her way before Greece, but hey. She adapts all of the Greek Magick and resolution in this Working. I am not going pig the whole Greek as a powerhouse of the best, because we know how they obtain their knowledge. Guess there’s my bias with th been, but I can still appreciate the Greek contribution over time. So let’s move on.

She talks about the Priestess of Hekate and their use of black and white Magick, which she could have just said magic, and it was an intricate part of their everyday life.  She goes on to talk about the Greek concept of heaven and hell and the way they viewed the afterlife, which was a very simplicity concept to them. She hits on what they considered the Daemon to which was the first of great men pay, as taught by Plato (her reference). So that was an interesting section to read.

Now her invocation and evocation need work. She states “l was originally taught that magicians never invoke, only witches”, (which is interesting that they delegate the two and they do different workings) ” The theory is that when one invoke there is a strong chance that risk control can be given over to the entity you invite to share your headspace, and losing control is something a magician never does”. Now I think we have to lose some control to gain it, if that makes sense. I’m not taking about going bat shit crazy, but getting deep in touch with the divine and having those crazy thoughts, that lead to sane workings. So it married me wonder are they scared with sharing with the divine, because they may not be strong enough to trust themselves, or have they invoke the wrong person and got hemmed up. Either way, she goes on saying how she never invoke and when she does its a rarity and its only two. Weird.

The Tetrahedron Exercise reminds me of the Mer ka ba meditation with extras to it. Directions on making the typical Grecian river is included, for those who want to have a hands on experience. The design is interesting and looks fun to try. Ritual gestures, practical exercises and pronunciation are added for your benefit. The normal incense making, banishing rituals are included, as are circle constructions and the calling of the 4 quarters. Instructions for ritual tools, including phylactery and lemnae are include.

She has for elemental meditations for Hekate. Hekate of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth and the accompanying meditations. These are extremely nice and useful and very workable. Very easy to add into your workings with her already. I skipped the reading of the meditations because I found myself spinning up out my body, and I didn’t feel like leaving in the middle of reading lol.

She hits on planetary days and hours, the associations,  deities for each day too. She goes a little into the orbit of the moon and some technical info, and I skipped it. It wasn’t necessary as I’m not living by the hours. She instructs you on during and making a mirror, explains the tarot in reference to Hekate.

This working is completely based off of the GPM, and if you work primarily with them it’s a breeze. The Hecate that I work with is damn near different, but I can utilize the meditations very easily. So all in all, it was a decent book, and one that you could add to your library.

The Grimorie of Tiamat

The Grimorie of Tiamat

This book is for the magician, witch, befriended or whatever you want to be called. This is not for the faint of heart. If your scared of the dark, don’t buy this book. If you are scared of what you can’t see, don’t buy this book. If you are mentally unstable, don’t buy this book. If you get weak at the sight of blood, or don’t work with blood, don’t buy this book. If you don’t have years and I mean like a good ten years practicing the darker arts, don’t buy this book. With that being said let’s continue.

This is a book that I may have been waiting for. I have been wanting to go into the abyss. Past the point of return, to discover myself, reawakening myself, and be one with the black flame and chaotic waters. And this book does it.

With five years research and preparation, the author and his companions lay out everything you need. Working with Tiamat and Kingu, in addition to her eleven children will take you on a journey into the darkest waters of Draconian Current.

I spent two days reading, highlighting, and making mental notes of the innovations, evocations, and meditation. The information about the Dieties is very intriguing. I don’t know much about the whole Tiamat aspect but I always knew enough that kept her on my mind. I have a Draconian Deity as a Patron, and that side of my ritual practice has been growing, little by little, for some time. I am not much of a ritual writer, surprisingly if you know me. But I can modify the hell it off other people’s works though lol. But with this Working, I won’t. I would do a great disservice if I change anything. The realms that you will be drowning in. The realms that you will be stepping into, will fuck you up if you are not strong enough mentally, physically and emotionally. Like the author said, you may want to have some type of knowledge of Draconian Current before you jump in.

I was thinking that this can be added to another draconian aspect but it would not work. This is a stand alone piece. A piece that I will be performing with my partner after we each do our own ritual writing of the book. And I can see this being a minimum of thirteen months in the working, for at least a week each month.

I can now sit this aside and plan for the workings. Which includes me going through the book a second time to jot the notes down, write out a material list that I need, correct t the materials and start making them. Whenever I read a book, I never read the incantations, or the meditations, or the rituals. I’ve learned a long time ago to be careful what you put to voice. But when I start going through the workings that is when I will let the current out and surround me.

This is a working Grimorie. This isn’t something for people to buy, read, and claim they done the work, when they do nothing but lie about all their craft workings. This is for the serious practitioner, who wants to go into the Draconian Current, and learn some shit.
